Ben Malpass has been named Head Concierge at Belgraves, A Thompson Hotel

Ben Malpass
A member of the prestigious Les Clefs d'Or, Ben brings more than 20 years’ industry experience to the Head Concierge position at Belgraves. Born and raised in Australia, Ben landed his first job at 17 as a page boy at Hilton Sydney. Originally taking the job to fund his travels around the world, he soon became fascinated by the hotel’s concierge team and ultimately postponed his travel plans in pursuit of a career in this direction. Three years later, Ben was awarded a scholarship to the Montreal branch of the International Concierge Institute, the world's only formal concierge training programme. Upon returning to Australia, Ben took on the Head Concierge role at Hilton Sydney at the impressively young age of 23. In 2000, Ben decided to pursue his career overseas and made the permanent move to London. To date, he has worked as Head Concierge at The Cavendish Hotel for five and a half years and most recently, at the Savoy Hotel since its reopening in July 2010. Ben’s focus and dedication to the role have been recognised through the years. In 2009, he won Front of House Manager of the Year at the Caterer & Hotelkeeper’s Hotel Cateys, and in 2010, Ben received the Andy Pongco Award as the International Concierge of the Year. Outside of work, Ben is a keen guitar enthusiast; his large collection has been a popular topic of discussion with hotel guests throughout the years.
