Kurt Stahura has been named Dean at Niagara University’s College of Hospitality and Tourism Management

Kurt Stahura has been named dean of Niagara University’s College of Hospitality and Tourism Management, a prominent appointment at one of the university’s flagship programs. Stahura succeeds Gary Praetzel, who retired last May after serving 13 years as dean of the college. Praetzel retained the title of special assistant to the university and provost. Stahura comes to Niagara from UNLV-Singapore, where he is managing director. The operation is part of the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Stahura will be responsible for the growth of NU’s hospitality and tourism program and will also be involved in NU’s Niagara Global Tourism Institute, a new initiative sited in downtown Niagara Falls. Niagara’s College of Hospitality and Tourism Management was the first in the world to offer a bachelor’s degree in tourism. The college currently offers undergraduate programs in hospitality, including hotel, restaurant, food service and club management; tourism and recreation management; and sport management. The college introduced a master’s program in sport management in the fall of 2013. It also runs custom-design international programs.
