San Antonio hotelier Rusty Wallace has been promoted to Regional Vice President, Operations for Omni Hotels & Resorts. Rusty joined Omni Hotels in 2002 and in 2006 moved to San Antonio as Managing Director of Omni La Mansión del Rio as well as Mokara Hotel & Spa . He was promoted to Area Managing Director in 2013. As part of his new role, Rusty will oversee the operations of Omni's properties in San Antonio, Austin and Corpus Christi. Rusty led the conversion of La Mansión and Mokara (formerly Watermark Hotel & Spa) to the Omni brand in March 2006. He also assisted on the task force conversion teams for the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort and the Omni Barton Creek Resort acquisitions. Under his supervision, Mokara Hotel and Spa has remained the only Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star award recipient in San Antonio and has been on Condé Nast Traveler's Gold List every year since 2006, receiving Platinum Circle designation in 2012. Additionally, Omni La Mansión del Rio has been recognized on Celebrated Living's Platinum List for nine consecutive years and has garnered numerous "Best of South" awards from Meeting South Magazine. A native Texan, Rusty earned his degree from the University of Houston. He currently serves as Chairman of the San Antonio Hotel & Lodging Association and Chairman of the San Antonio Convention & Visitors Commission.
