Stephen WrightThe Marriott Marquis City Center Doha Hotel is delighted to announce the appointment of the new Executive Chef, Stephen Wright. In his new position Chef Stephen Wright will lead a team of 180 chefs, oversee 11 kitchens and operate nine acclaimed restaurants and bars including the award-winning Ipanema Restaurant and the New York Steakhouse. Chef Stephen will also oversee the hotel’s culinary operations for the expansive banquet and outdoor catering facilities. A Michelin trained Executive Chef with a passion for the finest cuisine; Stephen brings a wealth of culinary experience, indefatigable energy and expertise. He has over 20 years of international experience in the industry having worked in five star hotels across seven different countries including several Michelin starred restaurants in London and Marriott properties like JW Marriott Medan, Renaissance Phuket, Sky City Marriott Hong Kong and Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa. Originating from Australia, Chef Stephen graduated with certificates in commercial cookery from Victoria State Training Board and the renowned Box Hill Institute in Melbourne whilst training at some of Melbourne's renowned restaurants such as Circa and the Sofitel's Le Restaurant. He achieved award-winning status by taking 1st place in the Victoria and Australasia heats of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs' Young Chef of the Year competition in 1997. He went on to take fourth place in the international competition.
