Joel Freyberg has been appointed managing director of Gansevoort Park Avenue, the second location of Gansevoort Hotel Group in New York City. Freyberg began his tenure with the group in 2004 as part of the pre-opening team at Gansevoort Meatpacking, the brand’s flagship property, serving as Hotel Manager. Freyberg comes to Gansevoort Park Avenue with an unmatched knowledge of New York and premium hospitality. Prior to joining Gansevoort Park Avenue, Freyberg served as general manager of The Chatwal New York where he launched the first luxury hotel in the theatre district, establishing the property as a Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond status and paving the way for new luxury properties in the area. As the hotel manager of Gansevoort’s premier property in the Meatpacking District, Freyberg successfully instituted service standards resulting in a Forbes Four-Star and AAA Four-Diamond rating while creating the first full service, luxury resort in Manhattan's historic Meatpacking District.

Joel Freyberg is an alumnus of NYUSPS Jonathan M. Tisch Center for Hospitality and Tourism – Class of 1983.
