Jim Redington
LOS ANGELES, -- Beginning a new and exciting chapter for Courtyard and Residence Inn L.A. Live in Downtown Los Angeles, Marriott has announced seasoned veteran Jim Redington as the new dual general manager of the one-of-a-kind hotel. Redington began his hospitality journey at a Holiday Inn in Morganton, NC. That experience ignited his passion for the industry and has set his course since 1987. He started his career with Marriott as an entry-level line cook in 1995 at Vail Marriott Mountain Resort while attending culinary school. After graduating, he was promoted to assistant sous chef before rising through the ranks over the next four years to lead chef. In 2000, Redington moved to the Washington, D.C. market. He held roles of executive chef at Falls Church Marriott Fairview Park and Crystal Gateway Marriott, both in Virginia, from 2000 to 2005, then food and beverage director from 2005 to 2007. He then became manager of food and beverage operations and rooms division at Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center, where he successfully oversaw an expansion project that brought the facility from 225 rooms to 450 rooms. In 2010, he became the resident manager at JW Marriott Washington, D.C. before taking on the resident manager position at Washington Marriott Wardman Park in 2013. The experience at the city's largest hotel afforded him true convention network experience and gave him insight on how to manage in a union environment. Born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Redington has lived in North Carolina, Virginia, Colorado and Washington, D.C. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Elon University and an associate's degree in culinary arts from Johnson & Wales University in Vail, CO.
