Eduardo Vela Ruiz, founder and president of Mexico’s Velas Resorts, has announced that Luz (Lucy) del Carmen Ruiz Rodriguez will take over as Managing Director of the AAA Five Diamond Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit. She replaces Ignacio Mendoza Valenzuela who will act as opening Managing Director of Grand Velas Los Cabos. Ruiz has over 25 years of hotel operation experience specializing in high-end hotels. She most recently served as Gerente Geral de Experiencia for Grupo Rio Quente’s seven hotels, 18 restaurants, 15 bars and a food service production center in Brazil. Prior to, she also held positions throughout Mexico with VillaGroup, Avalon Resorts, Hoteles Presidente, Paraiso de la Bonita, Hilton, Ritz Carlton and Fiesta Americana.
