Sharma's last tenure was with The Gateway Hotel, Kolkata as GM. He has spent more than a decade with the Taj group, playing various roles in the sales function in Kolkata, before moving to Mumbai as the Director of Sales, Taj Lands End. He was appointed as the Resident Manager, Taj Bengal, Kolkata in 2011 and in 2013 was entrusted with the task of opening the first prototype Gateway hotel – The Gateway Hotel, E M Bypass, Kolkata. Sharma holds a Master's degree from S P Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai.
