Last month, Dr. Michael A. Brabetz was appointed Medical Director of the Waldhotel Health & Medical Excellence at the Bürgenstock Hotels & Resort Lake Lucerne, a new holistic resort dedicated to healthy living. A physician with 27 years of specialization in internal medicine and psychosomatic illnesses, Dr. Brabetz will preside over a team of multi-disciplinary doctors. The Waldhotel Health & Medical Excellence is part of Switzerland's newest luxury resort that encompasses 383 rooms in two 5-star hotels, one four-star hotel and a three-star inn, 67 residences, 12 restaurants, lounges and bars, a 107,000 square-foot spa, meeting space for 800 people, several museums, a nine-hole golf course and three championship tennis courts. Designed by architect Matteo Thun, the five-star hotel features 160 rooms, a restaurant serving healthy cuisine and a medical spa. In collaboration with the Kantonspital Luzern and Kantonspital Nidwalden, this revolutionary wellness center will have facilities for medical check-ups, physical therapy, weight management, post-operative convalescence and wellness programs. For the past five years, Dr. Brabetz was head of internal medicine at the Clienia Littenheid Psychiatric and Psychotherapeutic Clinic. From 2000 to 2012, he practiced medicine in the Canton of St. Gallen. He began his career in 1991 as an assistant physician at the Lucerne Psychiatric Clinic, St. Urban. Subsequently, he spent two years as assistant physician in internal medicine at the Regional Hospital of Langenthal. From 1994 to 1996, Dr. Brabetz was first, an assistant physician, and later a senior physician, in internal medicine at the University Hospital of Bern. In 1997, he joined Waid City Hospital in Zurich as senior physician In 1990, Dr. Brabetz graduated from the University of Bern with a degree of assistant physician in human medicine. In 1992, he received his medical degree in human medicine. Dr. Brabetz also has certificates in internal medicine, psychosomatic and psychosocial medicine, echocardiography, and phytotherapy. Dr. Brabetz is a member of a number of Swiss medical organizations including: the Society of General Internal Medicine, Society of Cardiology, Medical Society of Phytotherapy, Academy for Psychosomatic and Psychosocial Medicine and the Society for Anxiety and Depression.
