sbe, the leading lifestyle hospitality company that develops, manages and operates award-winning international hospitality brands, announced today the appointment of Daniel del Olmo as CEO of Disruptive Restaurant Group and Umami Burger. Daniel’s arrival marks the company’s eleventh executive placement of 2017, adding to an already strong roster of top industry leaders, and underscores the group’s revitalized focus on accelerating the growth of its preeminent restaurant and nightlife concepts beyond the sbe platform. In hiring Daniel, sbe has made a tremendous investment in establishing its existing culinary and nightlife portfolio and organization for accelerated growth. Based in Los Angeles, Daniel will be focused on creating a strategic growth plan by rationalizing sbe’s existing portfolio and elevating each brand by further improving every element of the guest experience. Daniel’s top priority will be to cultivate the brands to live both inside and outside the sbe platform, with a renewed focus on growing with both existing and new partners through stand-alone units and other hotel, residential, commercial properties as well as transportation hubs around the globe. He joins the company as it embarks on a period of rapid growth with 19 restaurants and seven lounges set to open in the next six months, and over 60 venues in the pipeline by 2021 – including 25 Umamis, 16 Katsuyas and 11 Cleos. Daniel resides in Los Angeles and is a Belgian native. He speaks six languages, including Spanish, Dutch, French, Italian and Portuguese. He graduated from University of Hasselt in 1996, with an Applied Economic Sciences Bachelor degree and in 1997 with a Master of Business Administration degree. He is a founding partner of The Passionality Group, an accelerator for nascent hospitality concepts; an active member of YPO; and a board member of Pantomonium Productions, a non-profit New York-based children’s musical theatre group.
