Tomo Kuriyama has been appointed as General Manager at The Royal Hawaiian

Most recently, Kuriyama served as deputy general manager of the 1,636-room Sheraton Waikiki.

Kuriyama got his start in the industry more than 15 years ago, first as an intern at Sheraton Waikiki, then a guest service agent at the Sheraton Maui Resort. During his tenure at Sheraton Maui, he took on additional roles such as guest service manager, outlet manager and assistant front office manager. He eventually returned to the Sheraton Waikiki as a front office manager, until being promoted to director of rooms. As a 28-year-old director of rooms at the Sheraton Waikiki in 2006, he helped oversee the resort's massive $200 million renovation project that overhauled the bustling beachfront crown jewel.

In 2010, Kuriyama relocated to Thailand, accepting the role of hotel manager at the Sheraton Grand Sukhumvit, a Luxury Collection Hotel; then later became general manager of the Sheraton Pattaya Resort, before returning to the Sheraton Waikiki as deputy general manager in 2016.

Kuriyama holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration in international business from Hawaii Pacific University. He is also a Six Sigma Greenbelt certified and was named to Pacific Business News' Forty Under 40 Class of 2017. In his spare time, Kuriyama enjoys travelling and golfing.
