Alaa Hamed has been appointed as General Manager at Novotel Makkah Thakher City Hotel

Accor Hotels has named Alaa Hamed as general manager for Novotel Makkah Thakher City. The hospitality veteran brings opening experience with varied expertise in the fields of sales, rooms and operations management.

Hamed started his hospitality journey with Sofitel Sharm in Egypt in 1995 and has grown over the years into an experienced rooms division professional. He became Director of Sales & Marketing of Sheraton Gold Mohur Aden and then Director of Rooms Division of Sheraton Dammam Hotel & Towers. Most recently, in 2018 he opened Millennium & Copthorne Al-Naseem Hotels, the largest Millennium Hotel in the world, with 1307 guest rooms.

Hamed has more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry to his role, he holds the distinction of having been general manager at several luxury hotels in KSA, including Millennium & Copthorne Al Naseem, Movenpick Hotel Qassim, Sofitel Elaf Taiba & Elaf Al Huda Hotels, and Sheraton Dammam Hotel & Towers.

In 2010 Alaa received the Excellence Award for Best Hotel from Saudi Commission for Tourism & Heritage, in 2014 was awarded the Self-made award. Hamed has a Masters in Business Administration from Cornell University and a Bachelors degree in Hotel Management.
