Michael Schmid has been appointed as General Manager at The Jaffa, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Tel Aviv

The Jaffa, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Tel Aviv appoints Michael Schmid as General Manager of the award-winning, 5 star hotel. Schmid's appointment aligns with the hotel's re-opening on 1 August 2021 when it will once again welcome guests to its luxurious urban enclave in the center of ancient Jaffa.

Swiss-born Schmid has attended the prestigious Ecole Hoteliére de Lausanne and has over 20 years' experience in the high-end luxury segment with Four Seasons, Park Hyatt & Hyatt's luxury lifestyle brand Andaz.

Schmid managed several hotel openings and launches, including the most recent opening of the Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences in São Paulo, Brazil where he served as the hotel's general manager. He began his career at the former Four Seasons Hotel Berlin and has worked with renowned hotels around the world, such as Park Hyatt in Zürich, Grand Hyatt in São Paulo and Andaz Costa Rica Resort at Peninsula Papagayo.

He will have the unique opportunity to integrate the historic city of Jaffa with contemporary architecture by John Pawson as well as preservationist Ramy Gill, together with renowned hotelier and real estate developer Aby Rosen of RFR Holding and Marriott International's The Luxury Collection, to reinforce the remarkable Jaffa hotel in this new market.
