C.J. Chapman

Stonebridge Cos., a Denver-based, privately owned, innovative hotel owner, operator and developer, announced that C.J. Chapman has joined the firm as general counsel. Chapman's addition strengthens Stonebridge's commitment to grow its diverse hotel portfolio as well as expand its leadership team.

In his new role, Chapman will not only provide in-house legal advice for Stonebridge but also oversee the firm's risk management group.

Chapman, a Denver native, brings nearly two decades of experience as a general counsel and shareholder to Stonebridge. Most recently, Chapman served as general counsel to Elevation Capital, a venture fund based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

He previously served as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary to BellRock Brands Inc., a publicly traded company on the Canadian Securities Exchange, which he took public in November 2018.

Prior to that role, Chapman was a shareholder at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck LLP, where he practiced in its real estate and corporate departments. His practice focused on the acquisition, disposition, financing, leasing and development of a host of commercial real estate assets, including hotels, multifamily and office buildings, sports complexes, shopping centers and vacant land, as well as advising private companies on corporate matters, including partnership agreements, formation of entities and general corporate governance.

Chapman's appointment follows on the heels of Stonebridge's hiring of Brinkman as president and chief operating officer and is part of the firm's plans for significant growth, both in its portfolio and company composition. Earlier this year, Stonebridge announced plans to acquire more than $1 billion in hotel assets with a focus on third-party management opportunities with a recent investment by TowerBrook Capital Partners and other private investors.
