Rene Camelo has been appointed as Executive Chef at Kempinski Hotel Cancun

As Kempinski debuts its first Mexico property with the Grand Hotel Cancún managed by Kempinski, loyal guests of the property will be happy to find familiarity in the hotel's lauded culinary offerings. At the end of the year, the property will be fully operated under Kempinski Hotel Cancún.

Rene Camelo

With over 34 years in the business, Chef Rene Camelo is no stranger to the property or catering to its devoted, epicurean clientele. This is partly due to his loyalty to the very walls that saw him grow from a cook in 1996 to Executive Sous Chef by 2022. By 2023, Chef Camelo will be overseeing all the culinary experiences throughout the property, or better said, his home away from home.

Chef Camelo's love for food started in his grandmother's kitchen in Sucila, Yucatan, and his locally sourced dishes emphasize the authentic touch within the hotel's robust food and beverage program. Grand Hotel Cancún managed by Kempinski offers five onsite restaurants to enjoy Chef Camelo's carefully curated menus, from the award-winning Mediterranean fine-dining restaurant Fantino, to the romantic Casitas, where guests dine on the sand and under the stars. As Kempinski transitions into the property, Chef Camelo will continue to dream up sumptuous Mexican cuisine with the added Kempinski feel.
