Hakan Ozel has been promoted to Area General Manager, Operations at Shangri-La Group
Hakan Ozel has been promoted to area general manager, operations for Shangri-La across the Middle East, Europe, India and Americas (MEIA), his most senior role to date.
His first global position, Ozel has been general manager of Shangri-La Dubai since 2016. It gives him operational remit for hotels such as Shangri-La Jeddah, Shangri-La Paris, Shangri-La, The Shard, and many others.
Ozel will remain as general manager for Shangri-La Dubai, which, according to operators, is "testament to his outstanding leadership and managerial skills."
Prior to Dubai, he was the general manager at China World Summit Wing, a Shangri-La hotel in Beijing, China.
Ozel has close to 20 years of experience with the Shangri-La group, which has taken him to properties in Dalian, Shenzhen, Wenzhou, Tianjin and Beijing in China, Muscat in Sultanate of Oman and Jakarta in Indonesia.
Before joining the Shangri-La family, he held several positions at luxury hotels spanning China, Egypt, United Arab Emirates and his hometown in Turkey, where he started his career of 23 years in food and beverage management.
Hakan Ozel is an alumnus of Bilkent University – Class of 1998.
