Richard Simmons has been appointed as General Manager at Marco Polo Ortigas Manila
Simmons is set to take the helm of the prestigious Forbes Five-Star landmark hotel, with the aim of elevating operational standards and bolstering its financial health.
A seasoned veteran in the hospitality industry, Simmons has amassed over twenty years of experience in high-ranking roles across various domains such as Rooms, Sales and Marketing, and Revenue. His rich career trajectory includes stints as general manager at Hyatt Hotels in key locations like Hong Kong, Beijing, and Manila, and at Amari Hotels in Bangkok, demonstrating his breadth of knowledge and insights.
This assignment marks Simmons' third professional venture in the Philippines, having previously served at the Shangri-La in Cebu and Hyatt Hotels in Manila. Born in Australia, Simmons was exposed to the hospitality and travel industries at a young age, as his father held several positions in these sectors in Hong Kong.
Aside from his professional pursuits, Simmons is a passionate traveler and golfer, and he relishes attending live sports events. He also cherishes the time he spends with his two teenage daughters, who currently live in Germany.
