Sanjay Sharma has been appointed Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Orascom Hotels Management in Dubai
Sanjay Sharma, who held the position of Head of IT at Jumeirah Group, a global hotel chain, will assume the CTO position at Orascom Hotels Management in January 2024. With more than 8,000 guest rooms spread across Egypt, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates, in addition to additional properties in Montenegro and Switzerland, the hotel management business of Orascom Development is among the major hotel owners and operators in the MENA area. With 27 years of experience in a variety of leadership roles in technology and business transformation, Sanjay has a wealth of industry knowledge.
As Head of IT at Jumeirah Group, Sanjay oversaw multiple digital transformation projects. These included the introduction of fresh digital platforms and the use of cutting-edge tools like facial recognition for online check-in. The volume of internet business for Jumeirah Group increased significantly under his direction.
More than 20 years of Sanjay's career with Emirates Group were spent in a variety of senior positions, such as Manager IT Innovation and Transformation Lead. As a result of his establishment of labs at Carnegie Mellon University in San Francisco, Oxford University in the United Kingdom, and Emirates' Dubai headquarters, he oversaw the creation of new business models and directed the Emirates Group's transformation office.
Among Sanjay's accomplishments in the technology sector are the Business Transformation 150 (BT150) Award from Constellation Research and his ranking as one of the Middle East's top 10 CIOs by IDC Excellence Award 2022.
Sanjay's new position at Orascom Hotels Management will see him in charge of the organization's technology innovation and digital transformation.
