Kenji Fukunaga has been appointed as General Manager at Halekulani Okinawa

Halekulani Okinawa, the only Double Five-Star luxury resort in Okinawa, today announces the appointment of Kenji Fukunaga to the position of General Manager. A hospitality veteran with over two decades of experience, Fukunaga will oversee all hotel operations, ensuring the iconic property maintains its reputation as one of Japan's finest luxury resorts.

Fukunaga brings deep industry knowledge to the new role, cultivated from a career path at some of Asia's most illustrious hotels. Most recently, he served as Regional Vice President of Operations for Japan and Micronesia at Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, overseeing the operation, sales and marketing activities, talent development and new openings for 22 hotels. Notably, during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019, Fukunaga was tasked with leading the opening of Hotel Metropolitan Premier Taipei, JR Hotels' first overseas property. As General Manager, he navigated unprecedented challenges, implementing strategic operational frameworks to ensure a successful launch despite global disruptions.

Earlier in his career, Fukunaga held key leadership roles at renowned hotels, including The Westin Sendai, Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay Hotel and The St. Regis Osaka. There, he served as both General Manager and Area General Manager for Japan and Guam, overseeing the operations of 20 hotels.
