W Abu Dhabi - Yas Island has appointed Ajai Nair as cluster director of finance for W Abu Dhabi - Yas Island and Courtyard by Marriott World Trade Centre, Abu Dhabi. Bringing more than a decade of experience with leading hospitality brands, Nair steps into the role with a strong track record in financial leadership, operational strategy, and team development.
He will be responsible for overseeing finance functions across both properties, aligning performance excellence with Marriott International's wider regional strategy, says the brand.
Nair joins from W Dubai - The Palm, where since 2022 he has led finance operations for both the hotel and residences, managing accounting, payroll, and procurement. Before that, he served as cluster director of finance for Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort and Aloft Palm Jumeirah, steering both hotels through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic with robust cash management strategies that secured profitability in 2020.
His earlier career included roles as deputy director of finance at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi, marking his first posting in the capital, and management trainee beginnings in India. A commerce graduate, Nair holds a bachelor of commerce (Hons) from the University of Delhi and is a chartered accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
