Robert Hannigan has been appointed as General Manager at The Beckworth, a Curio Collection by Hilton Hotel

Concord Hospitality, the award-winning hotel management and development company managing over 150 hotels and 35 independent bar and restaurant outlets across North America, welcomes Robert Hannigan as the general manager of The Beckworth, a new luxury lifestyle hotel in Charlotte slated to open in 2026.

Hannigan has successfully opened several notable hotels, including The Shane Hotel in Atlanta—recognized by USA Today as one of the best new hotels of 2022—and The Goodland, an iconic Santa Barbara property honored as one of Condé Nast Traveler's 100 Best New Hotels worldwide. His extensive expertise and commitment to exceptional service will be instrumental in the launch of The Beckworth, which is poised to become a destination for both locals and visitors.

The Beckworth is an adaptive-reuse project located in Uptown Charlotte's historic Johnston Building, a neoclassical office tower designed by architect William Lee Stoddart. The Johnston Building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the hotel's interior design will honor its legacy as a center of commerce, blending modern and classical elements for a refined yet inviting guest experience.

In his new role, Hannigan is working closely with project partners to ensure every aspect of the hotel aligns with his vision of making The Beckworth the place to be. He is collaborating with Executive Chef Chris Coleman of Built On Hospitality to refine the concepts for the hotel's two restaurants, lobby bar, rooftop bar, and in-room dining program. He will also oversee the hotel's operational preperations and ensure that every detail aligns with the brand's highest standards. Additionally, Hannigan will recruit and build a team of associates who will undergo extensive training in preparation for the hotel's 2026 opening.

Hannigan is an award-winning industry leader who has received numerous accolades throughout his career. Prior to joining Concord Hospitality, he served as Regional Director of Operations for IHG Hotels & Resorts. During his tenure with IHG, he was General Manager of Charlotte's Tryon Park Hotel, where his work in elevating the hotel's reputation earned him the Charlotte Regional Visitor Authority's Ambassador of the Year award. Hannigan also spent more than a decade with Kimpton Hotels, overseeing properties in cities including Los Angeles, Portland, and Alexandria.

Hannigan holds a B.A. in English and History from the University of Rhode Island and an A.S. in Business Administration from County College of Morris. Though his career has taken him to cities across the country, he is excited to return to Charlotte—a city he believes blends Southern charm with a vibrant, modern energy.
