Sijo John has been appointed as Director of Finance at Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel & Convention Center
Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Sijo John as Director of Finance. In this role, he will lead the hotel’s financial operations, oversee budgeting and compliance, and drive strategic financial planning to support operational excellence and sustained business growth.
Mr. John brings over 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including more than 13 years with Marriott International. Most recently, he served as Director of Finance at JW Marriott Bengaluru, where he led the overall financial strategy in alignment with brand standards and ownership objectives to maximize profitability. Prior to this, he held key leadership positions as Financial Controller and Assistant Financial Controller at JW Marriott Bengaluru, and as Assistant Financial Controller at Fairfield by Marriott Whitefield. His earlier roles include Finance Manager at Bengaluru Marriott Hotel Whitefield and Fairfield by Marriott Bengaluru, and Finance Executive at Courtyard by Marriott Kochi Airport. He also gained international exposure as Accountant at Zitahli Resorts & Spa, Maldives, along with roles at Dream Hotel Cochin and Birla Public School.
An MBA graduate from ICFAI University and a Bachelor of Commerce graduate from St. Aloysius College, Edathuva, Mr. John is recognized for his expertise in budgeting, forecasting, P&L management, cash flow and working capital optimization, compliance, CapEx planning, and strategic business planning. During his tenure with Marriott International, he has been honored with several prestigious accolades, including the ‘Owner Relationship Award’ at the South Asia Finance Conference 2025 and the South Asia Finance Breakout Summit 2023, the 2024 APEC Quarterly Award (Q1) for Forecast Accuracy in the Luxury Segment, the Cash Flow Excellence Award at the Bengaluru Market Annual DOF Meet 2024, and the ‘Leadership Award’ for 2023 at JW Marriott Bengaluru.
Throughout his career, Mr. John has successfully led annual budgeting and forecasting cycles, ensured robust internal controls and audit readiness, strengthened financial governance, and partnered closely with executive leadership and ownership to enhance GOP margins and drive commercial performance. He also navigated the hotel through a Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (IRP) from January 2024 to January 2025, gaining valuable experience in managing financial controls, compliance, and operational stability during a critical transition period.
With his extensive industry experience and award-winning performance in hospitality finance, Mr. John is well-positioned to further strengthen Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield’s financial operations and strategic initiatives, reinforcing the hotel’s commitment to excellence and long-term value creation.
