Max Zanardi has been appointed as General Manager at Baccarat Hotel Rome
Starwood Hotels, the hotel brand management company that operates Baccarat Hotels, 1 Hotels, and Treehouse Hotels, is pleased to announce the appointment of Max Zanardi as General Manager of Baccarat Hotel Rome, set to open in Spring 2027.
A globally respected hospitality leader with more than three decades of luxury hotel experience spanning Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the Americas, Zanardi brings extensive expertise in hotel operations, pre-opening strategy, asset repositioning, and brand-led operational excellence. In his new role, he will oversee all aspects of the hotel’s operations and lead the opening of Baccarat Hotel Rome, the first Baccarat Hotels & Resorts property outside of the brand’s flagship property in New York. Housed within Rome’s landmark Hotel Majestic, the 87-key property is undergoing a meticulous restoration that blends the city’s historic character with Baccarat’s signature craftsmanship, crystal detailing, elevated dining experiences, and highly personalized service.
Zanardi joins Baccarat Hotel Rome following his role as General Manager of BVLGARI Resort & Mansions Bodrum, where he led the pre-opening functions of the ultra-luxury resort and residential project. Prior to this, he served as Chief Operating Officer of Marzocco Development in Florence, overseeing a portfolio of historic hospitality and residential assets across Italy.
Throughout his career, Zanardi has held senior leadership positions at some of the world’s most recognized luxury hospitality brands, including Atlantis The Palm Dubai, Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort in Morocco, One&Only Portonovi in Montenegro, and multiple Ritz-Carlton properties across Europe and Turkey. Known for his operational leadership and ability to reposition and elevate complex luxury assets, he has led large-scale teams and multi-million-dollar renovation and development initiatives across a range of international markets.
Fluent in Italian, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Turkish, Zanardi studied Hotel & Hospitality Management at the Hotel School of Parma in Italy and completed executive education programs at Cornell University, Aspen Leadership Center, and Chicago University Booth School of Business.
