Rob Brandenberg has been appointed as General Manager at Populus Seattle
Populus Hotels, a collection of carbon positive hotels that celebrate and protect the natural world, is pleased to announce the appointment of Rob Brandenberg as general manager of Populus Seattle. Brandenberg brings more than two decades of luxury and lifestyle hospitality experience to the award-winning hotel, along with a deep connection to Seattle and a passion for thoughtful and intuitive hospitality. In his role, Brandenberg will oversee all aspects of hotel operations, team leadership, and end-to-end guest journey at the property, which opened in May 2025 and has since been recognized by MICHELIN as a One Key Hotel two years in a row and by AFAR as one of the best new hotels in the world in 2026.
Raised and classically trained in Switzerland with a background in pastry and French cuisine, Brandenberg began his hospitality career in luxury hotels in Zurich, New York and San Francisco before expanding his experience internationally across Asia Pacific. His career has spanned a range of luxury properties and leadership roles, including The US GRANT, a Luxury Collection Hotel in San Diego, where he served as Director of Operations, and Pan Pacific Seattle, where he spent five years as General Manager. Most recently, Brandenberg served as General Manager of 1 Hotel Seattle, leading the property through its transformation, full renovation, pre-opening and rebranding under the 1 Hotels brand. He has also worked as a hospitality operations consultant, advising luxury lifestyle hospitality and residential estates on food and beverage concept development, guest journey design, beverage programs, and pre-opening and renovation planning.
A longtime resident of Seattle, Brandenberg has a true appreciation for the city, its people, arts and culture, and its surrounding natural beauty. His approach to hospitality is rooted in creating genuine connections between people and place, closely mirroring Populus Seattle’s mission of sustainable hospitality and connecting guests to their surroundings.
