Johann Runarsson has been appointed as Director of Food & Beverage at InterContinental San Diego by IHG
InterContinental San Diego has announced the appointment of hospitality leader Johann Runarsson as Director of Food & Beverage. Stepping into this strategic role, Runarsson brings a unique blend of hands-on operational leadership and F&B asset management expertise to the 400-room luxury waterfront property.
In his new capacity, Runarsson will oversee all dining outlets, beverage programs, and banquet operations across the hotel. His vision centers on crafting dining experiences that reflect the modern, vibrant spirit of San Diego while building a strong internal culture rooted in team pride and guest satisfaction.
Runarsson brings a proven record of leading complex culinary operations at prestigious hotels and resorts. He previously served as Director of Food & Beverage at notable properties including Park Hyatt Beaver Creek, PGA National Resort & Spa, Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort, and as the opening Director of Food & Beverage at the JW Marriott Austin. Additionally, his background as Asset Director of Food & Beverage for Prime Hospitality Group in Hollywood, Florida, provides him with a strategic understanding of profitability, culinary concept creation, and ownership expectations.
Educated internationally, Runarsson holds degrees in Hotel Management and Food & Beverage Operations from César Ritz Colleges in Switzerland, as well as Hotel and Restaurant Administration from Washington State University.
Under Runarsson’s leadership, InterContinental San Diego’s dining programs will feature seasonal, regional ingredients sourced directly from Southern California growers and suppliers, giving the hotel’s culinary and beverage teams creative flexibility to showcase local flavors.
