STSN Selected by Ritz Carlton as Its High-Speed Internet Services Provider
STSN to provide patent-pending technology to more than 5,000 Ritz-Carlton guestrooms, meeting rooms and business centers
SALT LAKE CITY / Sept. 27, 1999-- STSN, a technology and information service provider for the hospitality industry, Monday announced it has reached an agreement with The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company L.L.C. to install the STSN high-speed Internet solution in Ritz-Carlton hotels nationwide.
The company plans to equip approximately 5,000 Ritz-Carlton guestrooms, meeting rooms and business centers by January 2000.
The patent-pending STSN system will offer Ritz-Carlton guests access to the Internet at speeds up to 1.x Mbps (up to 50 times faster than conventional modem speeds). STSN has developed a desktop multi-port device that sits on the desk in a hotel room and provides users three plug-and-play options to access the Net.
Guests connect their laptop to the device using a standard Ethernet or USB cable to take advantage of the high-speed Internet service, or they may use a modem cable for traditional modem speeds.
The cables are available in each hotel room, and PC cards are available for checkout at the front desk. The multi-port device eliminates any IP addressing issues and provides a firewall secure environment for each hotel room.
"We are pleased Ritz-Carlton has selected our system as their Internet solution," said William West, president of STSN. "Hotel guests will be able to use the Web at the speed they are accustomed to in their offices; no more worrying about connections, download speeds or security.
"The STSN box handles all the active data processing and eliminates any possibility the users' information will be shared with others in the hotel. We are confident the STSN system will exceed customer expectations and maintain The Ritz-Carlton reputation for quality."
STSN will begin installing its Internet system in Ritz-Carltons nationwide in October 1999. STSN will install a high-speed T-1 data line in the telecommunications box of each hotel and utilize the hotel's existing telephone lines to bring Internet access to every room without modifying the hotel's telephone infrastructure.
By combining voice and data on the same telephone line, STSN technology allows guests to talk on the telephone while they surf the Net without data hiccups or line noise.
"We look forward to offering the STSN system to our guests," said Pamela Angelucci, vice president of information systems for Ritz-Carlton. "The demand for high-speed Internet access has greatly increased during the past several months.
"With The Ritz-Carlton reputation for superior customer service and amenities, we needed to provide our guests with a solution that surpassed those expectations. We found that solution in STSN."
