ISPA 2006 Thailand International Spa & Wellness Conference and Exhibition opens today at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center from May 3-5, 2006. “We are proud to host this annual Asia Pacific gathering of the best in the spa industry. Our Government is dedicated to firmly establishing Thailand as the Spa & Wellness Capital of Asia. This event offer business opportunities for Spa operators and inspire Thai spa businesses to develop better products and services to meet international standards,” remarked by Mr. Chakramon Phasukvanich, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, representing the Royal Thai Government during the Opening Ceremony.

The Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of the Tourism & Sports Mr. Pirom Simasatsien also graced the opening and said that, “Thailand, being the host of ISPA Conference and Exhibition, will become more significant as a spa destination and recognized by the people in the spa industry.”

The Ministry of Industry’s Institute for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ISMED) President, Dr. Thanet Norabhoompipat who is also the Chairman of ISPA 2006 Thailand Organising Committee welcomed the participants and exhibitors by saying, “ISPA 2006-Thailand, designated as “The Best of the East”, provides a spectrum of showcases on the best of Asian spas: their heritage of distinctive knowledge and service compassion.”

“The International Spa Association, ISPA, has a long tradition of providing illuminating conference and exhibition to delegates, the experience to bring back and apply for the betterment of their services. The Event this year follows this tradition, bringing in world spa leaders to share their visions, strategies, marketing and managerial insights,” Dr. Thanet further remarked.

The co-host of the event, the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) joined the opening ceremony by highlight the focus of the event. TCEB Director General Mr. Peerapong Oeusoonthornwattana mentioned, “Today, we set the stage not only for the Thai Spa Industry but also for the Asia Pacific Spa Industry. Thailand offers you the convergence of Oriental Wisdom, the New Experience for Meetings and Exhibitions along with a very able and quality venue, facilities and amenities to conduct business. Today and in the next few days, Thailand shall be your Strategic Link to the Global Spa Industry.”

The ISPA 2006 Thailand Conference also starts with the Chairman of the International Spa Association (ISPA) Ms. Kate Mearns providing the keynote along with an array of international speakers and experts providing insights for the next 3 days. The exhibition will also be open for trade visitors, buyers and delegates for the first 2 days and will be opened to the general public on the last day.
