(Nasdaq: MCRS) and a leading software developer, today announced plans to showcase MICROS’s Workstation 4 displaying the Profit Series Point-Of-Sale (POS) application, its flagship product, to the foodservice industry at the 2006 National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show in Chicago (HSI Booth #4200), May 20th – 23rd.

HSI is the only company, besides MICROS, whose point-of-sale application is enabled to operate on MICROS Workstation 4’s Microsoft® Windows® CE .NET technology. The Windows® CE .NET operating system provides increased security and is less vulnerable to viruses than traditional PC’s and POS workstations. The MICROS Workstation 4 is an innovative POS appliance that is less expensive than most traditional PC-based systems and its design does not require a fan or hard drive, which increases reliability and decreases operating costs. Should the need for service arise, just remove the Flash Memory card, install it in a new terminal, and plug it in.

The Profit Series POS is deployed using Microsoft® Terminal Services® allowing the MICROS Workstation 4 to connect to the POS server and access applications similar to a Remote Desktop Connection. Use of this technology allows terminals to be deployed across different network configurations including WANs with dedicated connections.
