Intergrated Computing Solutions Perfect For The Hospiltality Industry
Visit Powerdesk at this year’s HITEC show on stand 1341
Powerdesk, creators of the world’s first truly integrated desks and personal computers will be showcasing their technology at the 34th annual Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC) from 20-22 June.
Developed to combine the latest computing technology within a sleek and stylish piece of furniture, Powerdesk products overcome the issues of clutter and loose cables that can plague a typical PC set up. All Powerdesks are fully customisable and can come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colours, styles and designs. A bespoke unit can be built to perfectly match the existing décor of any hotel, resort property, club, restaurant or casino.
In a Powerdesk the complete PC, and all its associated cables, are concealed within the desk to leave only the monitor, keyboard and mouse on display. All of the other controls; the CD drive, USB ports and power button, are embedded within the desktop at the front of the desk within easy reach. Powerdesk use only industry-standard, fully-upgradeable PCs from major manufacturers such as Dell and HP to create beautiful, elegant and practical pieces of furniture with the most up-to-date computing technology.
The installation of a Powerdesk suite is ideal for the hospitality industry. The space saving, stylish and secure workstations provide multipurpose, easy to maintain and upgradeable computing solutions.
- Customisable: Each Powerdesk can be custom built to suit the unique furnishings of your hotel.
- Aesthetic: There’s no ugly tower case or trailing cables with a Powerdesk, it provides invisible computing power in an elegant, practical and sleek design.
- Space saving: With everything tucked away neatly out of sight the Powerdesk has a smaller footprint than a traditional computing set-up.
- Significant revenue generation: Powerdesk provides the power, flexibility, security and aesthetics to allow a wide range of pay-for service amenities including public internet access.
- Combine all in-room technology into one discreet unit: Your Powerdesk can be the PC, DVD, CD and TV – no more cluttered rooms.
David Gilbert, founder of Powerdesk, commented: “Powerdesk offers a unique opportunity to the hospitality industry, we are able to design units that combine computing technology with innovative design and the feedback from the hotels we have produced units for so far has been incredibly positive, some managers have mentioned trebling their income from public space internet access for example. Each Powerdesk can be built exactly as you want it meaning it will fit seamlessly into your building and will be an impressive addition to your service offering.
Powerdesk will be displaying two of their models at HITEC, The Barcelona and The Singapore:
- The Barcelona is a new, sleek design made from wood which is ideal for the lobby in a style-led hotel. It currently comes in white or black but can be custom built in any colour.
- The Singapore is a recently launched classic antique style desk suitable for a hotel bedroom. It is a traditional mahogany writing table with a green leather top.
These models are just two examples of the many ways a Powerdesk can be constructed - Powerdesk offer a made-to-order service for customers who want to build their desk from scratch, and to their own specifications. The bespoke nature of the service means that the customer has hundreds of colours and patterns to choose from and products can be built to meet their specific requirements, Powerdesk are also able to work with a hotel’s existing design team to create the perfect Powerdesk for everyone.
In Autumn 2005 Powerdesk provided the exclusive SAS Radisson Scandinavia Hotel in Oslo, Norway with a 3 seater public space internet access desk in Cocoa Corian and wood. The unit contained a corded monitor and peripherals, 2 USB ports, DVD-RW and an on/off switch per station embedded into the Corian surface. In the first 3 months of owning their Powerdesk, the Radisson Scandinavia’s revenue from customer internet access rose dramatically and subsequently their sister hotel, the SAS Radisson Plaza, have commissioned a bespoke Hot Red Corian and wood 3 seater public space business centre. This model has again been designed to the exact specifications of the hotel management and incorporates 19” rotating TFT screens, wireless printing, 2 USB ports and DVD/RW drives embedded within the front of the desk for each station as well as desk lamps and credit card readers.
