TORONTO, ON - Days Inns Canada recently unveiled the results of its 2007 fundraising campaign with the announcement of a $43,000 donation to the Childhood Cancer Foundation - Candlelighters Canada (CCFCC) at the Days Inns Canada Annual Conference held in Vancouver. Hotel owners donated a portion of their revenue for one week in September and collected donations from staff and guests to help fund research to find a cure for all forms of childhood cancer.
“As the exclusive hotel sponsor of the Childhood Cancer Foundation - Candlelighters Canada, we’re proud to announce that we doubled last year’s contribution,” said Irwin Prince, President & COO, Days Inns - Canada. “Thanks to the support of our hotel owners, staff and guests, we are delighted to continue our partnership with the Childhood Cancer Foundation Candlelighters Canada and together with our owners and staff we are committed to helping the foundation find a cure for all forms of childhood cancer.”
To coincide with Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September, Days Inns across Canada participated in a four-week national fundraising campaign. During the week of September 17 – 23, all 85 locations donated $1 from every guest room sold for those seven nights to the CCFCC. Guests who stayed during this period were encouraged to match the $1 donation by purchasing a gold paper ribbon. To help raise additional funds, guest donations were also accepted all month long for the annual Days Inn Gold Ribbon campaign.
"With a strong brand like Days Inns - Canada behind us, sharing our message with their guests and engaging them in the cause has helped our Foundation raise awareness and donations for research, treatment and family support,” said David Stones, President & CEO, Childhood Cancer Foundation - Candlelighters Canada. “We value their generosity, dedication and commitment to making a difference in the lives of Canadian children with cancer.”
