Hospitality Management Corporation Hosts Annual GM Conference

The Sheraton Harrisburg-Hershey was the setting for Hospitality Management Corporation’s (HMC) annual General Managers’ Conference for their managed properties on April 29-May 1, 2008. The 3-day event included a golf tournament, and two days of conference sessions.

Conference speakers included Jim Stoval – Arthur J. Gallagher; Wendy Breskin – HIRS; Gary Cook – ING Financial Advisors; Geoffrey Hayden – Acxential Business Solutions; Jennifer Condon - Newmarket International (Delphi); and Jeff Erickson – The Hotel Sales Coach. The theme of the conference was “Driving Guest Service,” and other presentation topics included “Creating a Culture of Customer Service”; a review of guest service scores; the role of GMs in Accounting; “It’s All About Attitude”; and an HR overview. A Town Hall Meeting gave the attendees the opportunity to ask questions of HMC officers and corporate staff, and discuss pertinent issues.

Awards were presented to HMC’s outstanding properties for 2007 at a gala banquet and awards ceremony on the last evening of the conference:

  • The award for HMC’s Full-Service Property of the Year was won by the Radisson Penn Harris in Harrisburg, PA, and was accepted by Gerald Morris, the hotel’s General Manager, and Tom Dickert, the Regional Director of Operations.
  • The Select-Service Property of the Year award was presented to the LaQuinta Inn & Suites North in Lubbock, TX, and accepted by Doug Belk, the General Manager.
  • Additional awards for 2006 were presented to the Holiday Inn Denton, the Radisson Hotel DFW South, and the Hilton Garden Inn Tulsa Airport.
