U.S. Olympic Swimmer, Medalist Dara Torres to Speak at 2009 NBTA Convention

The National Business Travel Association (NBTA) announced today that Dara Torres, 5-time Olympic swimmer and winner of 12 Olympic medals, will be featured as a keynote speaker at the 2009 NBTA International Convention & Exposition, to be held August 23-26 in San Diego. At age 41, Torres was the oldest female swimmer to make the 2008 U.S. Olympic team, winning three silver medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Alexandria, VA | The National Business Travel Association (NBTA) announced today that Dara Torres, 5-time Olympic swimmer and winner of 12 Olympic medals, will be featured as a keynote speaker at the 2009 NBTA International Convention & Exposition, to be held August 23-26 in San Diego. At age 41, Torres was the oldest female swimmer to make the 2008 U.S. Olympic team, winning three silver medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Torres broke her first world record in 1982 at the age of 14 and went on to become the first U.S. swimmer to compete in four Olympic Games, setting three world records and winning nine medals, including four gold. Torres also earned the maximum 28 NCAA All-American swimming awards as a swimmer at the University of Florida, and she broke her own previously held record for the 50 meter freestyle at the August 2007 U.S. Nationals.

In addition to swimming, Torres has made a second career working as a TV commentator, print model, and correspondent for Good Morning America, ESPN, TNT and Fox News.
