Helmut Gaisberger Retires as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Manila - Greg Liddell Appointed as New General Manager

Hong Kong, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced that Helmut Gaisberger will retire after 14 years as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Manila, effective 1 September 2009.

Mr Gaisberger enjoyed a successful senior management career in the hospitality industry for more than four decades. In his 14 years with Mandarin Oriental, he was instrumental in maintaining Mandarin Oriental, Manila as one of the city’s best hotels, which has regularly achieved awards, including five consecutive years as “Best Business Hotel in the Philippines” by Business Asia.

“I would like to thank Helmut for his dedication and energetic commitment to Mandarin Oriental, Manila. We join our colleagues in The Philippines in wishing him well in his retirement,” said Andrew Hirst, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group Operations Director - Asia.

Mr Gaisberger will be succeeded by Greg Liddell, who will join Mandarin Oriental on 24 August 2009. Mr Liddell has more than 14 years of senior management experience in the hotel industry. From 2002 to 2005, Mr Liddell worked with Aman Resorts, including two years as General Manager of Amanpulo in The Philippines. Mr Liddell, who is Australian, joins the Group from Karma Resorts where he spent the past four years as Group General Manager of their properties in Bali, Indonesia and Koh Samui, Thailand.
