With his students, Mr Ian Millar, Professor of information technology and founder of the EHL Cyberhotel, will share their knowledge of the hospitality industry with Philips, leader in Hotel TV, who will bring all its expertise to the installation of its latest products in the School’s Cyberhotel, a precursor of innovations in the Hospitality Information Technology.
The Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne owns indeed a unique CyberHotel, combining theory and practice.
It consists in a specially equipped and fully functional room on the EHL Campus. It features best practice IT solutions in hospitality technology currently used in the industry. The aim of the CyberHotel is to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the hospitality industry software, hardware, interfaces and networks which they will have to deal with on a day-to-day basis in their professional lives. Within the project of enhancing practice for the area of Guest room technology, Philips Hotel TV has installed various latest generation Hotel TVs and will soon help install the latest LED lighting and room controls.
Mr Ian Millar believes that “This partnership and equipment provided by Philips is an enormous help, especially in the area of Guest room technology. One area that now takes a key part of my course is that of sustainability, and green IT. The products offered by Philips fit into this very well, and help reinforce this principle in class. Having the Philips products physically in the classroom increases the students’ learning experience. For me the investment made by Philips both in products and time, shows a commitment to educating the future of our industry.”
EHL is a great contributor to their students’ understanding and appreciation of the latest in-room technology. The cooperation between Philips and EHL will give students the opportunity to get first-hand insights into the latest trends and studies, but also give something back to the hospitality leaders of tomorrow.
