Best Concierge Service Award Goes To InterContinental New York Barclay
On January 31, 2011, The InterContinental New York Barclay won the Hotel Excellence Award (HEA) in the Hotel Experience category for "Best Concierge Service" (for hotels with 500 rooms or more). The 2010 Hotel Excellence Awards gala—an annual black-tie, hotel industry event (equivalent to the Emmy Awards)—hosted by MVP/NY, the multi-media, international travel-publishing giant—was held at Cipriani Wall Street.

The HEA, in cooperation with the Hotel Association of New York City, Inc., is divided into three distinct categories: Hotel Experience—recognizing leaders in the New York City hospitality industry (as selected by the readers of IN New York magazine); the Silver Plume—which honors exemplary customer service and performance by Concierges and Managers, as chosen by their peers; and the Lifetime Achievement Award—honoring an outstanding individual for an impeccable record of service to the people of New York City—presented this year to actress Whoopi Goldberg by 2009 winner, Police Commissioner, Ray Kelly.
