Centara to open hotel and convention center in Khon Kaen, Thailand
Centara Hotels & Resorts has announced that its first property in Khon Kaen, in northeastern Thailand, will have its soft-opening at the end of 2011. Centara Hotel & Convention Centre Khon Kaen is a new development built by Khon Kaen Buri Company Limited and will be managed by Centara under a management contract signed in August 2009.

Centara Hotel & Convention Centre Khon Kaen is a new development built by Khon Kaen Buri Company Limited and will be managed by Centara under a management contract signed in August 2009.
A 12-story property with 196 rooms and located near to the Central Plaza Khon Kaen shopping and lifestyle center, the hotel has the largest hotel convention center in Khon Kaen, with multiple meeting rooms.
The Khon Kaen Convention Hall can hold up to 2,000 attendees seated theatre-style and 2,500 for a reception, while the Prachasamosorn Ballroom has a capacity for 700 persons seated theatre-style and 350 for banquets.
The convention hall has access to an outdoor swimming pool which is surrounded by a landscaped garden suitable for cocktail receptions and hosted events, and there are 6 intermediate meeting rooms for breakout sessions or separate functions.
"In addition to being a superb hotel for leisure and business travelers in the center of this very busy region, it also strengthens our marketing operation for the MICE sector," said Chris Bailey, senior vice president for sales and marketing at Centara Hotels&Resorts.
He added: "The hotel will become the hub for the MICE business in this part of Thailand, a market that is growing, and the hotel is only 15 minutes away from Khon Kaen airport.
"Further, it perfectly complements our other property in the northeast, Centara Hotel&Convention Centre Udon Thani."
Other facilities offered by the hotel include a Spa Cenvaree, a fitness center, an all-day restaurant with international and pan-Asian cuisines, a restaurant serving Cantonese cuisine, a British-style pub, a club lounge, bakery shop and deli, and a lobby lounge.
