Created in 1991 in Westminster with a founder membership of London’s flagship hotels, Considerate Hoteliers (CHA) was one of the first hotel associations worldwide to impart the message that care for the environment and social responsibility should form a major part of a responsible hotelier’s agenda. Membership is open to hotels and guest houses, from the smallest to the largest and across the grading bands, nationwide, which are committed to the Association's Mission Statement and Environmental Charter and conform to it.
In 1999, membership was made available to hotels in Greater London, and in 2003 to the United Kingdom. CHA is an association run by hoteliers, for hoteliers, with a belief that sound business practices, common sense and social responsibility can bring about change for the good whilst still impacting positively on the bottom line.
Always in the vanguard of the green debate, imparting advice and information to like-minded hotel companies and individuals, the association continues to go from strength to strength, gathering and networking with fellow hoteliers and setting the examples for others to follow.
As hoteliers themselves, CHA understands the needs of industry professionals. It provides assistance and advice on getting socially and environmentally responsible agendas started and puts you in touch with a large and ever growing network of fellow members. Putting the care and welfare of guests first is number one on Considerate Hoteliers’ agenda, all the whilst providing support to members on how best to ensure that other important responsibilities are considered.
Considerate Hoteliers have an affiliation with other UK associations such as the Green Tourism Business Scheme and Green Traveller, as well as a loose connection with US based Green Lodging. Its supplier network is carefully selected from other environmentally responsible businesses whose products and services benefit the hotels. Activeion’s ionator EXP allows Considerate Hotels to enhance their sustainability programs by providing them with chemical-free cleaning. Activeion’s Considerate Hotels Preferred Supplier status and key awards Sponsor enforces the company’s hospitality industry service commitment. Activeion is also a Preferred Supplier to prestigious Swiss Deluxe Hotels, Wyndham Worldwide and is active in many other industry associations such as the British Hospitality Association and the Sustainable Restaurant Association.
