Activeion’s chemical-free cleaning solutions have been witnessing increasing popular within the hospitality and restaurant industries throughout Europe. Certified by the HACCP and registered with NSF International, Activeion’s ionator EXP is considered safe for use in food servicing, preparation and processing areas. Activeion has numerous clients in the restaurant and catering business who use the ionator to clean various hard surfaces in kitchens, food prep areas and dining facilities. Additionally, restaurants can use the ionator to remove common bacteria such as E.coli or Staph, without any dangerous chemical addititives.

The association is the brainchild of Giles Gibbons, CEO and founder of corporate social responsibility consultancy Good Business; Mark Sainsbury, founder of Moro restaurants and The Zetter Hotel; and Henry Dimbleby, founder of seasonal fast food chain Leon. Several high-profile restaurants and chains have also become founder members, including Carluccio's, Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, Due South and Feng Sushi.

The Sustainable Restaurant Assocation (SRA) aims to:

  • Make UK restaurants global leaders in sustainability
  • Inspire and advise restaurants to adopt simple sustainable practices
  • Rate member restaurants via aStar Rating System to recognise their efforts, awarding them One, Two or Three Star Sustainability Champion status, with accompanying marketing and PR opportunities
  • Create a voice for the industry and raise the issue of sustainability at a local and national level with restaurants, legislators and consumers through campaigns on issues such as declining fish stocks, food waste, carbon efficiency and animal welfare.

Members receive expert advice from specialist account managers on the full range of sustainable issues including: food sourcing, energy efficiency, waste management and community responsibility. To qualify for membership, restaurants must meet at least three criteria from a comprehensive list covering 14 broad sustainability and environmental areas outlined by the SRA. The criteria cover areas including ethical and sustainable food sourcing, environmentally positive farming, supply chain actions such as insisting that suppliers use less packaging and asking them about their own environmental, social and ethical policies and energy efficiency actions, and community engagement.

Once in the group, restaurants are entitled to display a " We're at the table" sticker. In order to ensure continuous improvement, the SRA works with restaurants on at least three sustainable actions every year.

Activeion is now listed in the SRA’s supplier directory.

Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) is a not-for-profit UK based membership organisation providing restaurants with advice and support to help them navigate the whole spectrum of sustainability.

Aimed at improving the environmental performance of British eateries, it hopes to help the UK's 30,000 restaurants embrace the concept that being green is not necessarily a budget burden.

Set up in 2010 by Good Business and a group of leading restaurants to promote sustainable and responsible business behaviour in the UK restaurant industry, the SRA offers an accreditation scheme based on an assessment program.
