Cornell Students show off hospitality skills at Hotelie Tailgate
Cornell University celebrates the homecoming football game with great passion and enthusiasm. While each homecoming tailgate has something special to offer, Hotelie Tailgate is at the front of the pack each year. This year was no different. Members of Hotel Ezra Cornell (HEC), a student-run organization in the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University, put on a great show that reflected the passion Cornell had for the homecoming game...
The theme of this year's tailgate was "International Street Food," and the menu featured delicacies from around the world, prepared by HEC executive chef, Levi Austin '13, and his team. Austin said, "At tailgate this year, we wanted to encompass many foods from around the world that are both delicious and diverse. While serving variations on similar foods, we've taken culinary techniques and flavors from more than ten countries. We also featured local companies including Ithaca Beer Co. and Ithaca Bakery." The HEC team hosted a great turnout of over 500 students, faculty, and alumni at the tailgate.
Each year the homecoming game gives students, faculty, and alumni a reason to take a break from their busy routines, and Cornell enthusiasts swear that it is one of the most awaited events of the year. Chad Wemischner '13, managing director of HEC said, "Hotelie Homecoming Tailgate is always an exciting event that brings together alumni, students, faculty, and staff. The event provides the HEC Board of Directors the opportunity to work together to create a tailgate unlike any other during homecoming. It has the best food, ambiance, and excitement that conveys the true Hotelie spirit."
There is no better way to celebrate than with good hospitality and good food, and Hotelie Tailgate has a tradition of coming up with something new and different each year.
