Prince de Galles, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Paris is set to re-open in May 2013 following an extensive two-year restoration. This is part of a larger project undertaken by Starwood Hotels & Resorts and its owners to invest $200 million to renovate and restore some of its most emblematic European hotels under the Luxury Collection brand: Hotel Alfonso XIII in Seville and Hotel Maria Cristina in San Sebastian re-opened in 2012, and most recently, the Gritti Palace in Venice opened its doors on February 1st.
The legendary Prince de Galles is the Parisian residence for the most discerning travelers who seek an elegant and intimate environment in the city's most desirable quarter. An Art Deco treasure prized for its warm atmosphere, Prince de Galles sets itself aside from other Parisian hotels as the place for local and international guests to experience its discreet residential luxury and unparalleled service.
The hotel's signature restaurant will be led by Executive Chef, Stephanie Le Quellec, who is considered one of the most promising talents in the French culinary scene and will create an exquisite gastronomic experience that captures every moment of the day: from breakfast to the bar menu, as well as in-room dining. Simplicity and authenticity will be the defining characteristics of the restaurant's distinctive, seasonal dishes, which will also evoke the signature favours of the south of France.
Designed by Andre Arfvidson, Prince de Galles welcomed its first guests in 1929, during the peak of the Art Deco movement. The restoration of the interiors of Prince de Galles is led by two internationally acclaimed French designers: Pierre-Yves Rochon and Bruno Borrione.
Bruno Borrione, in close collaboration with Le Quellec, will bring his contemporary and distinctive touch to the hotel's signature restaurant and bar to create indelible culinary moments. A show kitchen, with a chef's table next to it, will be the center of attention in the restaurant, as guests dine at minimalist white marble tables. The hotel's magnificent patio, which features extensive Art Deco-style mosaic, will be re-designed to create an environment that will heighten guests' sensorial and culinary voyage.
Great attention to detail characterizes the work of Pierre-Yves Rochon, who is leading the design for the lobby, as well as the hotel's 115 rooms and 44 suites which have been reimagined as private apartments reminiscent of the Art Deco style from the 1930s. The rooms and suites will feature exquisite materials and design accents -such as unique furniture, elegant furnishings in Macassar ebony wood, Saint Laurent marble floors and intricate mosaics artwork- that are created by renowned luxury French 'maisons' and top craftsmen under the leadership of Pierre-Yves Rochon. The hotel's luxurious 1776 square feet penthouse offers the ultimate Parisian romantic getaway, complete with breathtaking panoramic views over the City of Lights from a private terrace.
Situated on Avenue Georges V in the heart of the Golden Triangle, which boasts some of the most beautiful boutiques, and no more than two steps from the Champs-Elysees, the business district and cultural venues, the hotel embodies the grandeur and spirit of the French capital's great tradition of hospitality. Prince de Galles will continue to offer its unique and personal touch, together with authentic experiences, as the destination authority in Paris when it re-opens in May.
