Rosewood Hotels & Resorts® has been appointed by property developer C C Land to
manage Rosewood Chongqing when it opens in 2015. The 361-room ultra-luxury hotel
is the fifth Asia Rosewood hotel announced, in addition to Rosewood Beijing (opening
early 2014), Rosewood Phuket (2015), Rosewood Tanah Lot Bali (2017) and Rosewood
Jakarta (2017.)
Located on the banks of the Yangtze River, the historic city
of Chongqing furthers Rosewood's strategic expansion as it is not only the commercial
centre and transportation hub for Southwest China, but the world's second most
populous city. Rosewood Chongqing will be conveniently located in a mixed-use
development comprising residences, retail and office space in Yubei District, a tourism
destination renowned for its abundant natural scenery and attractions including Bijin
Park, Jindaoxia scenic area and Bayu Folk Culture Village.
The design of
guestrooms, suites and public areas by California-based Remedios Studio, and the
three restaurants and bars by Tokyo-based Spin Design Studio, will incorporate
Rosewood's A Sense of Place® philosophy, reflecting and celebrating the location's
culture, history and geography. The concept will in fact be extended into every facet of
the property.
The 34-storey property will feature a soaring atrium-like
reception area, 331 guestrooms and 30 suites designed in residential style and a 31st-
floor Manor Club executive lounge with outdoor terrace.
In addition to a
lobby lounge, dining options will include an all-day bistro, a two-floor Chinese
restaurant, and a Japanese restaurant and a rooftop bar on the hotel's top three floors.
The bistro, with expansive, landscaped outdoor terrace, will feature live cooking stations
with an array of cuisines. The Chinese restaurant will offer a total of 19 private luxury
dining rooms. The multi-concept Japanese restaurant will recreate Tokyo's finest
culinary offerings with show kitchens serving a wide range of classic Japanese dishes.
The hotel's two-storey, resort-like rooftop bar will offer cabanas, a VIP
terrace lounge, a two-floor waterfall and outdoor fireplaces, all appearing to float on
water.
Sense® spa, Rosewood's signature spa brand offering treatments
reflecting the local culture and environment, will feature six treatment rooms, foot
massage and manicure/pedicure lounges and jacuzzis. Other recreational facilities will
include a gym and glass-roofed indoor swimming pool.
Meeting space will
include a 17,222-square-foot (1,600-square-meter) pillar-free ballroom accommodating
up to 1,000 guests; a 5,673-square-foot (527-square-meter) junior ballroom with
capacity for 350 persons; two meeting rooms; a VIP room and bridal room.
The Pavilion, Rosewood's residential-style meeting concept, will offer a show kitchen and
four function and meeting rooms with retractable walls for flexible configurations, two
separate function rooms, a breakout lounge and the Events Gallery – a private space for
event planners to customize their events. All Pavilion function spaces will be accessible
by a separate entrance located next to the main hotel entrance.
"We are
grateful that C C Land has given us the opportunity to manage this stunning new hotel
and introduce our acclaimed brand concept to yet another key mainland China location,"
says Sonia Cheng, chief executive officer of Rosewood Hotel Group. "Rosewood
Chongqing will play a significant role in expanding the Rosewood footprint in China."
"Rosewood is our ideal choice to open and manage this ultra-luxury hotel,"
says Zeng Wai Cai, vice chairman, board of directors of C C Land. "With its reputation
as one of the world's finest hotel operators, we are confident Rosewood will create a
property that will become synonymous with the city itself and a destination in its own
right."
