DoubleTree by Hilton Expands Global Presence with Openings in Two Key European Markets

Brand Debuts in Portugal with DoubleTree by Hilton Lisbon – Fontana Park and Doubles Offering in Ireland with DoubleTree by Hilton Dublin – Burlington Road

DoubleTree by Hilton today announced the brand has expanded its European presence with its two newest openings this month – DoubleTree by Hilton Lisbon – Fontana Park, the brand's first hotel in Portugal, and DoubleTree by Hilton Dublin – Burlington Road, the brand's second opening in Ireland following the debut of DoubleTree by Hilton in the market in early 2013.

With more than 350 properties in its global portfolio, these latest openings underscore DoubleTree by Hilton's position as a leading full-service hotel brands delivering first-class service to business and leisure guests globally.

"Lisbon and Dublin are two key European markets where we have seen a demand from leisure and business travelers for an upscale, full-service hotel brand dedicated to the highest standards of guest service," said John Greenleaf, global head, DoubleTree by Hilton. "Our growth in these countries underscores our commitment to bringing our industry-recognized service culture which is built around the idea of CARE (Create a Rewarding Experience) to our guests, team members and communities. CARE is demonstrated from the moment a guest checks in and receives the brand's warm, chocolate chip cookie welcome."

Opened last week, DoubleTree by Hilton Lisbon – Fontana Park, formerly the Fontana Park Hotel, is located in Saldanha Square and is an ideal location for anyone seeking to experience the rich culture and history of Portugal's capital city in style. The updated 139-room hotel retains much of its original character, including various design details that pay homage to the building's history as a small iron factory, enhanced by modern updates and amenities. An interior, open-air courtyard featuring a waterfall creates a beautiful respite within the bustling city. Guests wanting to indulge in local cuisine will enjoy traditional Portuguese fare in the hotel's restaurant, Saldanha Mar, as well as relaxed Mediterranean dining in the Fontana Bar Lounge.

DoubleTree by Hilton Lisbon – Fontana Park is located approximately three miles from the airport, and six miles from the Gare do Oriente, which connects the capital with Spain and France via the high-speed train network. Situated at the mouth of the Tagus River where it meets the Atlantic Ocean, Lisbon enjoys a mild climate all year round, and is the perfect destination for travelers looking for beautiful sandy beaches, renowned golf courses, or interesting heritage sites.

"It is an honor to introduce the upscale offerings and amenities synonymous with the DoubleTree by Hilton name to Portugal," said Gonçalo Sousa, general manager, DoubleTree by Hilton Lisbon – Fontana Park. "We look forward to providing a warm welcome to guests and local residents who are familiar with our award-winning hotel, as well as those who are drawn to this exciting city for the first time."

Also last week, the brand debuted DoubleTree by Hilton Dublin – Burlington Road, marking the official rebrand of the city's landmark hotel, The Burlington. A phased program of investment is underway to renovate the hotel by spring 2014, unveiling a fresh look and rejuvenating the hotel's services and amenities with all the hallmarks of the upscale DoubleTree by Hilton brand.

The largest hotel in the M50 belt, DoubleTree by Hilton Dublin – Burlington Road is a leading destination for meetings and events with a dedicated floor featuring 18 state-of-the-art conference suites and meeting rooms. As part of the property renovation, the hotel will upgrade all 501 guestrooms and public areas. A complete overhaul of the new Sussex restaurant will unveil a more open, spacious dining area. Upcoming enhancements of Mespil Bar will see it transformed into an executive lounge and the famous Bellini's Bar will be renamed the B Bar, in homage to the hotel's history.

"While the hotel will retain much of the character for which it has long been known and loved, the transformation is already apparent from the moment you step inside the lobby. New design features such as mood lighting, wood paneling and subtle colors combine to create a contemporary, minimalist effect," said David Monks, general manager, DoubleTree by Hilton Dublin – Burlington Road. "This is a new era for the hotel and we are confident that both regular and new guests will be hugely impressed."

As the properties are now within the DoubleTree by Hilton portfolio of hotels, both DoubleTree by Hilton Lisbon – Fontana Park and DoubleTree by Hilton Dublin – Burlington Road will offer brand amenities, including the Wake Up DoubleTree Breakfast, gourmet in-room tea and coffee offerings and a refreshing array of CITRON body care products by Crabtree & Evelyn. All rooms offer the DoubleTree by Hilton Sweet Dreams Sleep Experience, along with complimentary high speed Wi-Fi internet access in all guest rooms and public areas, complimentary 24-hour business and fitness centers.

At both hotels, Hilton HHonors members will now be able to earn and redeem points for stays. Additionally, Diamond HHonors members will receive 1,000 bonus points and free continental breakfast during stays and Gold HHonors members will have the option of receiving either 1,000 bonus points or complimentary continental breakfast.
