The 41st EHMA annual General Meeting was held in Monaco from 28 to 30 March 2014 at the Le Meridien Beach Plaza and at the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort Groupe SBM. The 41st EHMA annual General
Meeting was held in Monaco from 28 to 30 March 2014 at the Le Meridien Beach Plaza and at the
Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort Groupe SBM. The Organising Committee, chaired by Manuel De
Vasconcelos and composed by Sergio Mangini, Richard Duvauchelle, Siegfried Poppe, Pascal Camia
offered participants a very interesting programme both in its professional content with high-profile speakers
and professional topics, as well as in the prestigious social functions.
The conference has
revolved around the theme ''Sustainability'', covering not only environmental issues, but also
operations, resources, designs and last but not least sustainability in the sense of support.
The University day, a joint presentation and discussion on Sustainability has taken place on
Friday afternoon at the Monte Carlo Bay and has been organized in collaboration with Ecole Hôtelière
de Lausanne and Diversey Care with Dr. Ilham Kadri, President Diversey Care, Sealed Air Corp and
Professor Michel Hartmann, EHL Advisor for Sustainability Strategy. In the evening all participants
joined the Welcome cocktail at the Monte Carlo Bay.
On Saturday morning, during the
Educational Day participants had the opportunity to enjoy the interventions of keynote speakers such
as Robbie Bargh of Gorgeous Group, Andrea Pinabell Director Sustainability Global Citizenship of
Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Daniel Tschudy About Cross Culture and the Global meeting business and
Robin Rossmann Travel Hospitality and Leisure, Deloitte LLP.
In the afternoon during the
General Assembly, several internal issues have been discussed. President of Hotrec Kent Nystrom was
also invited to update all members attending on Hotrec latest news.
The outstanding gala
evening at Salle Empire of the Hotel de Paris which concluded the conference was also the occasion for
the presentation of the "Hotel Manager of the Year 2013" award to the French member François
Delahaye, Hotel Plaza Athénée - Paris and of the ''EHMA Sustainability award by Diversey Care 2014''
to François Moizan of the Hotel Fouquet's Barriere, Paris.
EHMA is now looking forward to
Geneva 2015 which promises to be another annual event not to be missed!
