Eurovision 2015: Hotel Prices up 41%; Travel Interest up 58%
With the semi-finals underway and the final on Saturday, travellers are flocking to Vienna for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest. Hotel comparison website trivago.co.uk found that travel interest from the UK is up 58 per cent compared to last year. Hotel prices are up by an average of 41 per cent, peaking at £158 the night before the final. The top visiting countries (besides Austria) are Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Finland.

Norwegians are willing to pay the most for their hotel room (£133 per night), while Serbians searched for the cheapest rooms (£62 per night).
The average clicked price for UK users during Eurovision (18th – 24th May) is £115 – the third most expensive price per night, behind Norway (£133) and Belgium (£120). This is significantly below the overall average price of £126 during the Eurovision period. The countries researching the cheapest hotel prices are Poland (£69) and Serbia (£62).

Although hotel prices are up by an average of 41%, this is minimal compared to the price hikes in Copenhagen for Eurovision 2014. Last year, prices increased by a maximum average of 63 per cent, peaking at £246 the day after the final. As hotel prices in Vienna are relatively cheap, they will peak at just £158 this year.
It is also really interesting to see how much different nationalities are willing to pay for their hotel room – with prices ranging between £62 and £133 per night. The UK is fairly high up in this list, researching prices around £115 per night."
