Perseus has announced the acquisition of L'Alpaga, a new hotel in the French Alps, as part of a strategy to continue growing a small group of four- to five-star hotels in the region: Les Hôtels d'en Haut. This latest mountain hotel acquisition is part of Perseus' strategy focussing on prime locations and independent hotels with significant upside potential.
The building and business were acquired from their founders who created the hotel 5 years ago. L'Alpaga will be run as part of Les Hôtels d'en Haut, an upscale brand for destination hotels in the French Alps which was created in 2012 by Perseus www.leshotelsdenhaut.com. It will sit next to the three existing hotels: the Hôtel Le Val Thorens, a four-star hotel with 83 rooms and the Hôtel Fitz-Roy, a five-star hotel with 58 rooms in Val Thorens and the Hôtel des Trois Vallées, a four-star hotel with 31 rooms in Courchevel 1850.
L'Alpaga is a five-star hotel with 22 rooms, five suites and six chalets, located in Mégève, five minutes away from the heart of the village. The establishment affords breathtaking views of Mont Blanc and its gastronomic restaurant, "La Table de l'Alpaga", was awarded a Michelin star in the 2014 guide. L'Alpaga's former general manager and founder Franck Jaulneau will join the Perseus Group as General Manager for Les Hôtels d'en Haut.
Perseus is an independent hotel owner and operator created in 2011 by Valéry Grégo. It currently owns eight hotels across France, with a total of 480 rooms, and plans to expand into Europe where it expects to triple in size over the next 10 years.
The Perseus investment strategy relies on a strong industry vision and know-how, with a long-term view of business; an approach which it believes will help sustainable growth. Perseus typically acquires three-to five-star independent hotels with strong long-term potential and is always on the lookout for new opportunities.
Perseus focuses primarily on European capitals, downtown areas of major provincial cities and leading tourist or business destinations. The group invests primarily in France but intends to follow a similar pattern in the UK.
