The completely reconstructed property, which is owned by Rockpoint Group and Highgate and managed by Highgate, brings 235 upscale rooms, contemporary style and upscale services to the heart of South Beach.
The new lifestyle boutique hotel offers guests an authentic and unconventional resort-style setting, just across the street from the Atlantic Ocean. Convenient to all that South Beach has to offer, it is walking distance to Ocean Drive, Lincoln Road and the area's renowned restaurants, nightlife, entertainment and shopping, and just a short drive to all of South Florida's best attractions.
Built on the foundation of the 1954 Ankara Motel, The Gates Hotel South Beach - a DoubleTree by Hilton maintains the historic, Art Deco-inspired architecture on the exterior, while also breathing new life into a reconstructed interior with contemporary elements. Components of the hotel that have retained their original form include the classic brick walls of the Historic Wing and refurbished Ankara Motel signage.
Inside, modern design takes center stage as a translucent staircase welcomes guests into the thriving two-story atrium with custom leather wrapping and a striking light fixture inspired by drum cymbals. The welcoming, laid-back atmosphere encourages guests to explore their surroundings or simply relax in any one of the hotel's finely-crafted spaces.
Each of the modern, beautifully-furnished guestrooms - including 17 suites - is designed with a vibrant color scheme and upscale in-room features. All accommodations are non-smoking and include plush beds, featuring fresh, white duvets and crisp linens; a spacious and clutter-free work desk with an ergonomic desk chair; and an in-room refrigerator, laptop-size safe and coffeemaker. Guests will be able to enjoy the Florida sunshine through oversized windows, and some guest rooms include balconies. Bathrooms feature granite countertops, extra storage space, walk-in showers and backlit vanities.
