Lincoln Center Wins Top Tourism Achievement Award From HSMAI Greater New York Chapter
Six Others Win Annual Awards Of Excellence
The Greater New York Chapter of the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) has awarded Lincoln Center with the 26th Annual Frank W. Berkman Tourism Achievement Award and named six outstanding industry executives with the 2019 Chapter Awards of Excellence. The presentations took place at the annual black-tie dinner/dance at the JW Marriott Essex House on June 26, 2019.
NEW YORK, NY - The Greater New York Chapter of the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) has awarded Lincoln Center with the 26th Annual Frank W. Berkman Tourism Achievement Award and named six outstanding industry executives with the 2019 Chapter Awards of Excellence. The presentations took place at the annual black-tie dinner/dance at the JW Marriott Essex House on June 26, 2019. The awards were designed to recognize and honor individuals or organizations that have made significant contributions to the tourism industry in the Greater New York City area.
The 26th Annual Frank W. Berkman Tourism Achievement Award was accepted on behalf of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts by Darren Robertson (left), Managing Director, Concert Halls, and Dara Connell (center), Associate Director, Guest & Patron Services. The presentation was made by Lori O'Connell (right), President of Agency O'C and Immediate Past President HSMAI Greater New York.
Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA) is one of the most significant cultural institutions in New York, drawing millions of visitors annually. Lincoln Center offers thousands of free and ticketed events, performances, tours, and educational activities annually and is home to 11 distinguished constituent organizations: The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Film at Lincoln Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Juilliard School, Lincoln Center Theater, The Metropolitan Opera, New York City Ballet, New York Philharmonic, The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, School of American Ballet, and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
"All of us in the travel, tourism and hospitality business benefit from the outstanding work performed by Lincoln Center and the wonderful welcome the institution provides for New York City residents and visitors," said O'Connell.
For 2019, the HSMAI Greater New York Chapter presented The President's Award for Outstanding Service to Julian Emanuel, Sales Manager, Gotham Hotel and Chapter Director of Partnerships/Sponsorships, HSMAI Greater New York Chapter.
Five other individuals who were honored for their outstanding work and dedication to the hospitality industry and the sales and marketing profession, include:
- General Manager of the Year: Sean Verney, General Manager, Sheraton New York Times Square
- Revenue Management Executive of the Year: Selena Rogers, CCTE, Senior Director of Corporate Accounts, Furnished Quarters
- Sales Executive of the Year: Isaac Pacheco, National Sales Manager, Hornblower Cruises & Events - New York
- Marketing Executive of the Year: Jason Price, Executive Vice President, NextGuest Digital
- Hospitality Professional of the Year: Charles E. Daley, CTIS, CTP, President, Destinations of New York State
Frank W. Berkman, CHME, was a former Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of HSMAI for 16 years. This award was created in 1994 by the Past Presidents Council of the HSMAI Greater New York Chapter and was named after Berkman because of his dedication to building HSMAI a highly-influential international hospitality industry organization.
