It helped that Larry was already friendly with the stand's owner Mrs. Ha, who brings him homemade kimchi and dumplings.
Now the residents of luxury AKA Rittenhouse Square, which just underwent an extensive renovation with refreshed interiors and new amenities, will be able to order their favorite candy bars, including M&Ms, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Snickers, as well as other popular fare, such as Pepsi and Sprite, at newsstand prices by contacting the front desk. The charge will be applied to the bill, and the doormen will deliver the goods.
"The marketplace has a misperception about luxury," said Larry Korman. "The affluent do not only buy expensive. Everyone loves Snickers and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. The Mars family named the Snickers bar after their favorite horse."
Whenever Mrs. Ha has issues with graffiti, Larry has it removed. He also helped her stock a few international pubs. Mrs. Ha was born in Korea, has a daughter who graduated from Princeton University, a son who is in finance and another daughter who sometimes works with her at the newsstand and in Mrs. Ha's dry-cleaning businesses.
