Accor, Australia’s largest hotel operator, has partnered with Year13, Australia’s largest digital platform for high school leavers, to inspire young Australians to explore the limitless career opportunities within the hospitality industry.

Year13 is Australia’s only purpose-driven digital enterprise dedicated to supporting young people through their transition into employment, connecting with 1.6 million Gen Z’s each year online and more through their digital careers expo, social channels and partnerships.

Activated through a variety of social media, video and editorial content pieces on Year13 channels, this strategic partnership seeks to inspire and support Gen Z to consider meaningful and rewarding careers that fit within their passions.

Accor Pacific Senior Vice President Talent & Culture, Sarah Derry, said: “Through our partnership with Year13, we are hoping to lure great young talent to our workforce that will enrich the tourism industry’s future forever. It allows us to harness Year13’s purposeful, influential and trusted connection with young Australians to highlight the many opportunities for collaboration, creativity, and fast-tracked career pathways at Accor. We pride ourselves on our multi-generational workforce and we see Gen Z as a highly impactful generation with an extremely important voice.”

Year13 Co-Founder, Will Stubley, said: “Our purpose is to improve the health and happiness of all young Australians, and part of that means connecting them with meaningful and rewarding careers that fit within their broader life goals. We are so excited to partner with Accor to inspire Gen Z to enter an industry that is thriving back to life as Australia re-opens. The opportunity to identify, inspire and train the next generation of hospitality professionals aligns with our purpose to connect Gen Z to all the options available after high school and beyond.”

To attract young Australians and nurture them into the leaders of tomorrow, Accor has redesigned its talent attraction strategy, launching Work Your Way at Accor earlier this month.

The new program allows Accor team members to work around what matters to them most and appeals to Gen Z’s need for security, flexibility and wellbeing with:

  1. Same day hire: Accor has introduced a new same day hire process for frontline roles, such as food and beverage attendants, receptionists and housekeeping attendants to simplify and fast track the hiring process. Put simply, a candidate can walk or phone in, be hired, and start working all on the very same day.
  2. Flexible working for all: Accor believes every role, from housekeeping to management, should have flexibility so it has implemented new policy to ensure greater flexibility is available to all employees.
  3. Personalised work perks: Accor’s already generous team member benefits have been bolstered with each hotel now offering a selection of additional perks personalised by their location and team preference, including travel allowances, birthday leave and sabbaticals.
  4. Open pathways to travel and work around the Pacific: Future and current team members now have greater opportunity to work and travel their way around Accor properties in the Pacific region than ever before.
  5. Career development: Accor’s industry-leading training academy, Accor Academy, supports every team member’s career development with easy access to qualifications, practical skills and leadership programs.

Accor is currently recruiting for more than 1,200 new career opportunities at most of its 340 hotels across Australia. Anyone interested in career opportunities at Accor should visit year13.com.au/employers/accor-pacific.

Earlier this year, Accor launched its Accor Internship Program, which works with 22 hospitality institutions across Australia and New Zealand to provide fully paid on the job training for 100 students. And, for two decades, the Accor Indigenous Programs have been a talent initiative playing a key role in empowering indigenous success within Australia’s hospitality industry.

Across all workplaces and spaces, there is one thing that binds the Accor team together – Heartist culture – which is their shared and unwavering obsession with the joys of human connection. Every Accor team member is trained in the Heartist culture and its guiding principles. It is these principles that help the team to make all people feel valued and welcome.

Accor brands across Australia include Sofitel, MGallery, Art Series, Pullman, Swissôtel, Mövenpick, Grand Mercure, Peppers, The Sebel, Mantra, Novotel, Mercure, Tribe, BreakFree, ibis, ibis Styles and ibis budget.
