Fort Lauderdale, FL - Marriott Fort Lauderdale Airport is excited to announce the hire of their first ever full-time robot employee, Betty Bot. Today, Betty joins the team as a busser at the newly opened hotel’s restaurant Radiant166, where she will help to deliver a quality guest experience.

Trained as a ‘Servi’ at Bear Robotics, an artificial intelligence company that was founded to address the increased pressure faced by the food service industry, Betty Bot is ready to take her first position at Marriott Fort Lauderdale Airport’'s restaurant Radiant166. Her capabilities include carrying food, drinks and dirty dishes between the kitchen and tables inside the restaurant.

“We are excited to be at the forefront of tapping into new innovations and technologies and welcome our new hire Betty Bot with open arms,” says Mychal Millian, General Manager. “As the hospitality industry evolves and grows, the beliefs that are most important to us stay the same - pursuing excellence and serving the best to our world. Through this partnership with Bear Robotics, our goal is to continue to enhance the guest service experience and we hope to do so with our first ever Betty Bot.”

At Radiant166, Kitchen staffers will help load food and drink orders onto Betty Bot and send her into the dining room to deliver them, allowing human staffers to continue to focus on customer-facing interactions. Armed with 3D sensors, Betty Bot can avoid all obstacles to reach her assigned tables. Load her up with dirty dishes and the bots spirit them to the dishwashing station.

“South Florida continues to shine in embracing frontier technology and innovation,” says Juan Higueros, Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Bear Robotics. “We are delighted to bring our service robots to work alongside the exceptional hospitality team at the Marriott Fort Lauderdale Airport.”
